Told your panel is too full for a charger?
“Full” can mean two different things. If your panel is just out of breaker slots, that’s usually a modest job: your electrician can add a subpanel. The expensive kind of full is when your home already uses most of the power its electrical service can supply. Your electrician checks this with a load calculation, and if a 40- to 60-amp charger circuit would push your home past its service rating (often 100 amps in older homes), the usual answer is a bigger service: utility coordination, maybe trenching, a new panel, and a long wait.

What homeowners ask us
Will ChargeXcel slow down my charging?
Most of the time, no. You usually charge overnight, when other appliances are off, so the car charges at full speed. ChargeXcel only slows or pauses charging during short peaks, and brings it back as soon as the peak passes.
Does it work with my car and charger?
Yes. ChargeXcel protects any Level 2 charging station up to 60 A, with every electric car. Tesla is built in for smart charging; other cars and chargers can be slowed or paused through a script or OCPP, depending on what they support.
Will my home pass inspection?
ChargeXcel is certified by CSA Group to UL 916, and the National Electrical Code (NEC 220.70 and 625.42(A)) lets your electrician count it in the load calculation. Your electrician designs the installation and your local inspector gives final approval. Code details.
Is there a subscription?
No. Load protection, energy history, Tesla control, solar charging and firmware updates are all included, with no monthly fees.
